JANUARY 22, 2019 - BARRIE, ON: At the January 16, 2019 Board meeting, The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) welcomed Isaac McClelland as the 2019-2020 student trustee.

The Grade 11 student from Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School in Orillia was elected by the Student Senate in November and has begun a six-month term as Student Trustee-elect alongside current Student Trustee Anna Szumska.

“The student trustee position plays an important role on our Board of Trustees,” said Carol Corriveau-Truchon, Board Chair. “Hearing the student voice and understanding the youth perspective provides our trustees with a different and necessary insight, which we all greatly value.”

Isaac currently represents his school as a member on the SMCDSB Student Senate and serves on the Student Council at Patrick Fogarty. “He is a very hardworking and driven young man with a passion to please others and make the school a better place,” said Carolyn Healy, Principal at Patrick Fogarty.

“I will see to it that students are getting support from their respective school communities and that they know that prayer is always there to guide them,” said Isaac McClelland.

Isaac will be officially commissioned as the 2019-2020 Student Trustee at the first Board meeting in September and will serve until July 31, 2020.
