Secondary Student Self-Screening

Each day, high school students must complete and pass the COVID-19 school screening tool prior to coming to school. All secondary students receive a daily email which includes a link to the daily screening tool - completion of this form is monitored and students will not be permitted to attend class until it is completed.

Recently the province made changes to strengthen health and safety measures and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Daily COVID-19 Self Screening

Based on the revised guidelines, all families must to adhere to the following:

  • If your child has any new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19 (as outlined in the screening tool) they are not permitted to attend school. This includes students with even just one symptom.

  • Any student who has not passed the daily screening must not return to school until:

  • They receive a negative COVID-19 test result; or,

  • They receive an alternative diagnosis by a health care professional; or,

  • It has been 10 days since their symptom onset and they are feeling better.

New Isolation Requirements for Household Members

Another significant recent change is that all staff, students and children are required to stay home from school (or child care) if anyone in their household has new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19 and has been recommended for isolation and testing. For example, if a child or parent has even one symptom of COVID-19 then all members of that household (siblings and parents) must also stay home. This would be in effect until the symptomatic household member receives a negative COVID-19 test result or receives an alternative diagnosis by a healthcare professional. If the symptomatic person tests positive the health unit will provide isolation instructions for the entire household.

As always, we thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.
