February 10, 2016 - BARRIE, ON: The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board recently held its inaugural meeting of the Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) and the committee is pleased to announce the acclamation of Sara Roberts as Chairperson and Theresa Sanders as Vice-Chairperson.
This will be Sara's second year as SEAC Chairperson. Mr. Ab Falconi, the Superintendent of Education commented, "it will be a pleasure to continue working with Sara in her role as SEAC Chairperson. She has proven herself to be a thoughtful and hard-working leader for this committee." SEAC membership includes two school board trustees, board staff representatives and up to 12 members nominated by local associations of parents.
The members of SEAC have a strong interest in assisting parents who may have children with special needs or abilities. SEAC members make presentations at school council meetings for parents and/or professional development days for teachers. They also make recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding special education programs and services.
The board would like to thank Heather Hutchinson for her capable leadership as Vice-Chairperson of SEAC during the past year.
