St. Paul's Glee Club Heads to National Championship

A group of Grade 6 and 7 students from St. Paul’s Catholic School in Alliston are preparing for their big debut at the Show Choir Canada National Championships in Toronto next month.

The Glee club at the school practices about twice a week and has performed at their school assemblies, at the Stevenson Memorial Hospital, and at a competition at Canada’s Wonderland. The group typically performs contemporary pop songs in A cappella but sometimes have guitar or piano accompaniments as well. Even though they are used to performing, the upcoming competition is a step above anything they are used to.

Although the students are nervous, St. Pauls’ music, dance and drama teacher, John Miorin, is confident that the group has what it takes to compete.  Most of the students are anxious about performing in front of such a large crowd - 1,200 people, but are all looking forward to the experience.

The Show Choir Canada National Championships will be held on April 7 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Toronto.

Good luck to all participants!
