On Thursday, September 29, 2016, The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will join more than 9,000 other schools across the country to take part in the 36th anniversary of the Terry Fox School Run.
As we participate in a great cause, we remember Terry’s message of courage, perseverance, hope and compassion.
Kevin MacKay, teacher at Monsignor Clair Catholic School in Barrie, wrote the below prayer with his class prior to the Terry Fox Run.
And We Walk
Dear God,
Today, we want to walk with You.
To listen to Your voice.
To experience Your love.
Let Your love reign down on us, all who belong and all who struggle.
Let Your love shine through those darkest moments and help us see the way.
Let Your love sing so we may raise our hands in praise and share your truth with others.
Today, we want to walk with You.
To listen to Your voice.
To experience Your love.
Fall is a time of change.
Leaves are changing colour and trees are preparing their roots for winter.
Each step we take today is a moment to celebrate Your love and wonder.
Each step we take today is a beat in the music of our lives.
Let us fall gently in Your love.
Today, we want to walk with You.
To listen to Your voice.
To experience Your love.
As we walk with You today and celebrate childhood cancer awareness month,
let us pray for those children who are learning to live with this disease.
We pray Your Love will be a beacon of hope
to those who suffer and to their family and friends.
We pray in this time, in this week, and in this month, we will walk for Terry Fox
who suffered from cancer but celebrated life to the fullest.
Today, we want to walk with You.
To listen to Your voice.
To experience Your love.

Amen
