Mental Health Resources for Families

Mental Health Resources for Families
Posted on 05/14/2020

As students and staff at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board adjust to the delivery of the Learns @ Home Program, there have been many developments over the past month to support the mental health of our students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Education staff and administrators have integrated important well-being and mental health concepts into the distance learning program and have collaborated on several different resources for families.

Research indicates that multiple strategies are necessary to reach a high percentage of students who require mental health assistance. For this reason we have created the Simcoe Muskoka Online Mental Health and Community Resource List. This resource contains carefully selected information for students and parents and includes resources co-developed with Student Mental Health Ontario and other reputable mental health agencies in Ontario.

We know that school closures can be difficult, and so we encourage families to view the resource list and use if needed. We thank everyone who collaborated on this project and for keeping the well-being of our SMCDSB family a top priority.
