It’s a passion that was ignited many years ago for Manon Heran, a teacher at St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School in Barrie, who has organized initiatives for Black History Month at the school for fourteen years.

On February 1st, the board is officially launching its Kindergarten registration campaign for the 41 Catholic elementary schools in Simcoe County and Muskoka.

Every February, people in Canada are invited to participate in Black History Month festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. The 2021 theme for Black History Month is: "The Future is Now".
