At the September 18th board meeting, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board welcomed new student trustee
Mirari Ubani.
Mirari is a Grade 11 student from St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Secondary School. Her two-year term began on August 1, 2023. The student trustee is selected by the Student Senate. The Senate is made up of a group of student leaders from all nine of the Catholic high schools in SMCDSB.
Mirari’s leadership skills, honed through participation in several organizations, will serve her well. Most notable are her roles in her school's Social Justice Club, and Heritage Club. Her volunteer efforts further demonstrate her dedication to service.
During her term,
Mirari will represent the 22,000 students in the Board’s 51 Catholic schools and will work with student representatives from the nine secondary schools to bring the student voice to the Trustees. We are looking forward to working with
Mirari as she serves as student trustee until July 31, 2025.
