Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.
This week we are celebrating Christine King, a SERT at
St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School. Christine was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“Christine is a SERT at St. Joan of Arc in Barrie, and she goes above and beyond to help her students. A student from St. Joan of Arc was transferring to Our Lady of the Bay, and in order to ensure a smooth transition, Christine set-up several transition meetings between the student, family, outside worker, and the school. She drove to Collingwood on two separate occasions to help familiarize the student with her new school, supports, and environment to help alleviate the student's concerns and feelings of anxiety. An extraordinary effort! Thanks so much Christine!”
This week we are also celebrating Karen Stys-Hewitt, a Consultant at Academic Services. Karen was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“Karen goes above and beyond to support colleagues across the board. Whether it's AER, EQAO, Equity, Literacy, NTIP, PLC's, and/or destreaming initiatives, she is always knowledgeable, resourceful, and collaborative. Her innovative and creative ideas empower educators to challenge themselves. She is so appreciated by so many staff.”
We would like to thank Christine and Karen for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
