Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Krystalyn Bell, Danielle Laurin, Joe Martone, and Kari McGuire.

Krystalyn is a teacher at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Krystalyn Bell Catholic School. Krystalyn was nominated by a parent, who said:

“I would like to recognize Mrs. Bell as an outstanding teacher. Through these times, she has been patient, compassionate, understanding and shows great concern and accountability for her students' education. She is always prepared to conquer the day by trying to motivate her students to continue to do well and to be prepared for the upcoming school year. She is dedicated and loyal to her job and to her students by being available everyday to teach and is compassionate, and helps her students with any struggles they may have. I admire how she is hands-on and at any time if there is a concern, the lines of communication are always open. I am grateful that my child has had the honour of being in her class two years in a row. Any student who will be in her class in the future will be lucky to have her. Not only will they excel in their education but they will also learn respect. I believe these are two very important factors in our lives, and we are so lucky to have had Mrs. Bell teach both. Mrs. Bell, thank you, thank you. You're a gem!”

Danielle LaurinDanielle Laurin is a Buyer at Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. Danielle was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Danielle is always such a joy to deal with in purchasing. She responds quickly and always seems to have the answers to ALL of my questions. I do not think that I could do my job as efficiently without the assistance of Danielle. Without a doubt the addition of Danielle to our Board has been a huge asset. Thank you for always being here for every question, big or small.”

Kari McGuire and Joe Martone, at the time of their Kari Mcguire nomination, were Special Education Resource Teachers at St. John Paul II Catholic School. Joe and Kari were nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Kari McGuire and Joe Martone truly are exemplary educators who personify servant leadership. Joe and Kari are passionate special education resource teachers who go above and beyond to help students, staff and parents feel supported, listened to and Joe Martoneappreciated. They are gifted, multi-talented educators who are constantly seeking innovative and creative ways to support and enhance the learning of every student they work with. As a phenomenal SERT team, their commitment to student learning and supporting staff is awe inspiring. Above all else, Kari and Joe are exceptionally kind, compassionate and caring human beings who effortlessly shine a light on every life they touch at St. John Paul II.”
