Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Laura McIsaac, Neil McKenna, and Nancy Pottage.

Laura McIsaac is a teacher at Monsignor Michael Laura McIssac O’Leary Catholic School. Laura was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Mrs. McIsaac has been the most amazing virtual teacher. The amount of work and care she put into her students this year was truly amazing. My son thrived by being in her class. She created some amazing memories for the kids by putting on virtual concerts at Christmas and at the end of the year. She made sure the kids did not miss out on anything by being in virtual school. Well done, Mrs. McIsaac.”

Neil McKenna Neil McKenna is a teacher at The Good Shepherd Catholic School. Neil was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Mr. McKenna has been an incredible teacher both in person and online. He truly cares about his students and provides the right type of encouragement to increase their confidence and keep them engaged! In addition he’s been fantastic with keeping me in the loop on Selena’s progress and studies. As a parent with a child who has an IEP, he has set the example for others to follow.”

Nancy Pottage is a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Nancy Pottage Catholic School. She was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Ms. Pottage is my child’s Grade 1 teacher. Ms. Pottage is an enthusiastic and caring educator. This year she ran a Roots of Empathy program with the class: my child came home from school not just learning about empathy and human stages of growth, but she began to practice empathy at home in a much more self-aware manner. We thank Ms. Pottage for building a classroom learning environment that is creative, passionate, engaging and inclusive. We loved the Poet-tree sharing day, math night, and hearing about zero the hero. And, just yesterday my daughter informed me that she was an Engineer for the week. Thank you Ms. Pottage!”

We would like to thank Laura, Neil, and Nancy for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
