Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Lindsay Channing, a Lindsay Channing teacher at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School. Lindsay was nominated by a parent, who said:

“We would like to take this opportunity to recognize Mrs. Channing, a teacher at St. Catherine of Siena School, for her hard work and dedication to teaching. We have been blessed to have Mrs. Channing teach all of our children. Mrs. Channing works tirelessly to enrich the lives of the future generation and has made a difference in our children's lives. Her dedication, love of teaching, and hard work are evident in all that she does. We are constantly in awe of the passion, creativity, and knowledge that Mrs. Channing brings to the classroom. Her programming for every subject she teaches is amazing. Our son comes home with so many wonderful stories and so much new knowledge of the world around him. During Black History Month, our son came home everyday with a new story to share about a prominent Black hero. All of Mrs. Channing’s teaching is made relevant to our child’s world and is helping shape him into the best person he can be. Her programming has engaged all our children in learning. Not only is she knowledgeable with the Ontario curriculum, she also has helped foster a love of learning. Mrs. Channing cares deeply about all students' success. Mrs. Channing is an amazing teacher who deserves this recognition. It is evident that teaching is her vocation. Thank you Mrs. Channing for your dedication, vibrant enthusiasm, and love of learning which never goes unnoticed. You have helped shape all our boys both socially and academically. You are truly a gem in the education system and you continue to inspire greatness. We are so blessed.”

Angela DeasonThis week we are also celebrating Angela Deason, a teacher at St. Joseph’s Catholic High School. Angela was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“I am new to the school, new to Brightspace and new to other school procedures. A sheep astray from the pack. No purpose, no know how, what do I do? Where do I go for help? What if I can't get help? Along came Angela Deason with her expert tutelage intact. Angela, the one person that took the time to teach me an abundance of super useful skills, had no problem stopping what she was doing to guide me through an array of ah-ha’s. Though I came back to her repeatedly with follow up questions, the welcome sign was always posted. I can imagine what a sensational teacher Angela is to her students, as I have been one of them. Angela is among people of a rare breed that see others as more important than themselves. Unselfish, considerate, self-sacrificing, and accommodating. If you are looking for somebody to represent our board, locked and loaded with remarkable Catholic virtues, look no further!”

We would like to thank Lindsay and Angela for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
