Every week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.
This week we are celebrating Lynda McDowell, an
Educational Assistant at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. Lynda was nominated by a colleague, who said:
“We would like to recognize Lynda McDowell for her outstanding work as an EA. She has been with this board for over 25 years, working in both elementary and secondary panels. No matter what level her students are at, she finds ways to engage them in activities that expand their experiences in life, even if it means a whole lot more work for her. Lynda always puts others before herself in both her personal and professional life. She often spends her own money to enhance her students' programs, and her colleagues enjoy special recognition from her on their birthday with a cake or treats made especially for them. Thanks Lynda for always going above and beyond. We all appreciate it!”
This week we are also celebrating Jodi Lancha and Melissa Baye, ECE teachers at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. Jodi and Melissa were nominated by a parent, who said:
“Mrs. Lancha and Ms. Baye were my daughter's teachers last year. Even though my daughter is no longer in their class they still make a point to greet us every morning and look out for my daughter. I appreciate that there are teachers that have the mentality: once a student has been in my class they are always one of my students. It warms my heart knowing that there are teachers looking out for my daughter everyday who genuinely care about her!”
We would like to thank Lynda, Jodi, and Melissa for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
