Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Marianne Blain, a teacher Marianne Blain at St. Joseph Catholic High School. Marianne was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Marianne is a secret weapon as a co-worker. By this I mean she is a helpful and friendly colleague who, once she unleashes her super powers, look out...all your problems are about to be solved! Marianne is a teacher at St. Joseph's High School and she is such a wonderful asset to the Jag Community. Among other school commitments, Marianne is a staff advisor to the Black Student Alliance, providing the group with support in all their endeavours, truly helping them strive for success. Additionally, she is always willing to help out a colleague or student with her positive attitude and vast resources that she has curated. A tech issue? A form for tracking student achievement? Marianne is the 'go to' for support and resources and she always has a full drawer of teacher supplies aka candies for emergencies. Thanks to Marianne's efforts, the school community at St. Joe's is a better place.”

Elizabeth PaytonThis week we are also celebrating Elizabeth Payton, Co-Curricular Chair and PE teacher at Our Lady of the Bay Catholic School. Elizabeth was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Liz goes out of her way to ensure all teams are able to run at our small school. She provides space, resources and ensures bussing is completed for the sporting events. This year we have had many teams go to OFSAA: swimming, nordic and alpine skiing to name a few and Liz ensured all forms (of which there are many) were completed and sent into the HUB in time. She also does follow up with the coaches to ensure we have everything we need to be successful.”

We would like to thank Marianne and Elizabeth for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
