Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Melissa Chater, a Melissa Chater teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Barrie. Melissa Chater was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Mrs. Chater has been with St. Mary's for many years, and she goes above and beyond every single day. She organizes the Candlelight Liturgy for our school each year and is the coach of the basketball team. She decorates our foyer every month and always makes sure beautiful artwork is displayed in our hallways and bulletin boards. Most importantly, Mrs. Chater is an excellent teacher. She teaches with love, dedication and humour. Her classroom is warm and welcoming, and it is an amazing atmosphere to learn in. Students from past and present adore her as she develops great relationships with them and their families along the way. Last but not least, Mrs. Chater is an excellent co-worker. She is always willing to help in any possible way and she keeps our staff room filled with conversation and laughter. She is everything a teacher should be, and our school is so lucky to have her.”

EAs at Holy FamilyThis week we are celebrating Tammy Ellison, Kandice Trippler, Sandra McKnight, Bonnie Kerr, Elizabeth Masters, Bianca Giorgi and Keri O’Leary, educational assistants at Holy Family Catholic School. Tammy, Kandice, Sandra, Bonnie, Elizabeth, Bianca and Keri were nominated by a colleague, who said:

“The educational assistants at Holy Family are helpful and welcoming to students and staff alike. As a group, they really work to support one another with strategies to increase the successes of the students they support. They strive to make our learning centre a safe and welcoming place for students. They promote inclusion by encouraging classmates to engage with the students they support through inviting them to join a student in the hub for a game, activity or a snack. It's a true pleasure working with this wonderful group.”

We would like to thank Melissa, Tammy, Kandice, Sandra, Bonnie, Elizabeth, Bianca and Keri for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
