Celebrating Staff logoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Shaughn English-Cragg, a Shaughn English-Cragg teacher at Monsignor J.E Ronan Catholic School. Shaughn was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Shaughn has been teaching at Monsignor J.E. Ronan for approximately 20 years now. She is the type of person who makes mini and large sacrifices each day for her students, colleagues and the school as a whole. If a team needs to be coached and no one is willing to do it - she will make sure to coach it. Just in the fall for example she coached Jr. Soccer, Sr. Volleyball and Jr. Volleyball with barely a moment to breathe in between.

In addition, she started our very first Photography Club this year and is our teacher rep for the Parent Council. From coaching hockey to leading intramural badminton, from helping out with school events to ordering school and gym equipment supplies, from helping with the Social Committee to representing teachers on Parent Council this girl is the go to person for just about everything! And, she is always there to make sure everything will turn out ok.

She wants to ensure every child gets opportunities that go beyond academics. She is an amazing teammate and collaborator to bounce off ideas, even principals alike will ask for her advice. She has a great sense of humour and appreciates the small things in life. She will also drop everything to listen and be a comforting ear to you.

Not only is she an amazing Grade 3 teacher, coach, and colleague, she is also a mother of 4! I honestly don’t know how she juggles it all? Her hard work, faith and dedication is felt by all who visit and appreciate our school. I think we have a pretty amazing school and I know Shaughn is part of that fabric that makes it run like a well-oiled machine. I know when writing this I am writing on behalf of each and every person who has crossed her path that she is a pretty incredible human being. Our school motto is “Let your light shine… so others can give Glory to God” and she embodies that to a T! She is also celebrating her 50th birthday this year and I felt this nomination was a great way to celebrate her and all of her many accomplishments. I truly could not ask for a better colleague. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO AT OUR SCHOOL TO MAKE MRO an AMAZING place to work at! HAPPY 50 YEARS OF LIFE SHAUGHN and may God continue to Bless You abundantly!”

Fab MalfitanoThis week we are also celebrating Fab Malfitano, a custodian at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School. Fab was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Fab is always available and happy to help where needed. He is reliable and friendly and can be counted on in a pinch. He's an asset to the custodial team!”

We would like to thank Shaughn and Fab for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
