Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student or colleague.

This week we are recognizing Susan Eccleshall, Samantha Leone, and Amy Murray.

Susan Eccleshall is the Susan Eccleshall principal at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School. Susan was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Susan Eccleshall has been principal at St. Peter the Apostle in Parry Sound for only a couple of years and has made amazing changes at our school. She has created an amazing outdoor learning environment for all students. Her love of teaching science shines through her students as they continue to discuss the experiments and outcomes during recess. Susan's door is always open to lend a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen or a hand to help. Susan Eccleshall is a kind, strong, supportive professional leader. I am so grateful and proud to have her as our principal at St. Peter the Apostle School in Parry Sound!”

Samantha LeoneThis week we are also celebrating Samantha Leone, a teacher at Holy Family Catholic School. Samantha was nominated by a parent, who said:

“From day one she brought such an energy and fun spirit to the class and was consistent each day. Her lessons were engaging, organized and she was always prepared for everything and anything. Being online we know is very challenging in itself and how she got to know the children so well and manage to attend to each of their needs was extraordinary. You could tell by how well the lessons were put together from the slides and all the extended programs used that she went that extra, extra mile each day. As a parent I communicated with her consistently and she was always willing and available. She helped and supported me to ensure my child was doing what was needed and I had the tools to support my child. My daughter was excited to join each day and never wanted to miss a second of class. She would get ready early and just wait at the computer each morning. I can not thank Mrs. Leone enough for all she has done for our daughter and I want to recognize her for the wonderful teacher she is...she really is exceptional!”

We are also celebrating Amy Murray this week, a Amy Murray teacher at St. Angela Merici Catholic School. Amy was nominated by a parent, who said:

“Mrs Murray has now taught two of my children and I cannot be happier! She is by far the best teacher. She is passionate, fun, and most importantly, she goes above and beyond for her students. She continues to astonish me with how she makes learning fun and the 'extra' things she does for her students to make them feel included and loved. I wish she could be my childrens' teacher for the remainder of their elementary schooling! Truly an amazing teacher!!!”

We would like to thank Susan, Samantha, and Amy for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
