Harvesting Memories at Monsignor Clair

This week, Monsignor Clair Catholic School students experienced a fun surprise as their schoolyard was turned into a pumpkin patch!

The week began with a special story shared during Tuesday's school’s Clash of the Colours event. Students heard about Monsignor Clair’s Great Pumpkin Quest. In this story the school mascot, Monsignor Clair Coyote, searched high and low to find the perfect pumpkins for a school Harvest Festival. After many adventures, he found a magical field filled with pumpkins thanks to Mrs. Durst, the "pumpkin whisperer."

Principal Nicole Laframboise explained, “We wanted to build excitement and inspire creativity. Students worked together in the colour teams to decorate the school with pumpkin-themed art, to embrace the magic of the story.”

A letter informed parents about the "Top Secret" surprise. They were asked to keep the transformation a secret from the students until Thursday. On October 24th, Grade 7 and 8 students and Parent Council members quietly placed pumpkins around the schoolyard after the first recess.

At 11:00 a.m., the magic unfolded! Kindergarten to Grade 2 students stepped outside to find the pumpkin-filled yard and enjoy a fun pumpkin-picking experience. Grades 3 to 8 students joined in on the fun, making it a memorable experience for all. To add to the festive atmosphere, some Parent Council members dressed as scarecrows in the pumpkin patch!

Monsignor Clair’s pumpkin patch event is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to engage students in creative, community-driven activities that spark their imagination and promote teamwork.

A big thank you to the generous support of Konrad Farms in Alliston for providing the pumpkins that made this magical experience possible!
