Celebrating Staff LogoEvery week we celebrate SMCDSB staff members who have been recognized by a parent, student, or colleague.

This week we are celebrating Mike Hartfield, a teacher Mike Hartfield at Holy Trinity Catholic High School. Mike was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Mike Hartfield is an exceptional educator, who wears many hard hats at Holy Trinity. From his work within the guidance department, his leadership as a member of the bridge builder team, his contributions to staff social events as well as his new position as co-op chairperson, his go with the 'flow' attitude makes him an asset to the school community. This year he seamlessly transitioned to the chairperson role and provided phenomenal mentorship to the veteran teachers new to his department. He continues to balance the needs and wants of students with the ever-changing modern-day workforce and has an uncanny knack for finding interesting, engaging, and relevant experiential learning opportunities for students. A consummate professional, he works 25/7 to provide authentic learning opportunities for students.”

Courtney JohnstonThis week we are also celebrating Courtney Johnston, a DECE at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School. Courtney was nominated by a colleague, who said:

“Courtney is an amazing DECE and a great teaching partner to have. She is thoughtful and inclusive to everyone around her. She is the best DECE because she teaches from the heart. She also always thinks outside of the box and provides a lot of fun and interesting things to teach the kids. Thank you for being a wonderful DECE and friend.”

We would like to thank Mike and Courtney for their commitment to Catholic education at our board.
