On Monday, September 27, a courageous five year-old from St. John Paul II Catholic School in Barrie, cut her hair in front of her entire school. After watching her younger sister Lillian lose her hair three times in a ten month period from Leukemia, Vivienne wanted to do something to help.

Vivienne has been growing her hair for several months in preparation for the event so that she could help support cancer patients. At the school assembly on Monday, students and staff watched as she cut several inches off and learned about why she was doing it. Vivienne will be donating her hair to Angel Hair for Kids, an organization that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.

We would like to thank Vivienne for her courageous efforts and for bringing awareness to such a great cause. It’s amazing to see so much compassion, one of our board’s Catholic values, in our youngest students.
