This year, Catholic Education Week is celebrated from May 5-10, 2019. During this special week our Catholic community takes an opportunity to celebrate publicly funded Catholic education in our province. This year’s theme is Living Together As Joyful Disciples, which was inspired by three sources: Renewing the Promise, The Pastoral Letter on Catholic Education from the Bishops of Ontario; Gaudete et exultate, the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis on the Call to Holiness; and Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment, the October 2018 Synod of Bishops. The theme is very much directed to the young people in our schools, especially in their growth in holiness and their formation as Disciples of Christ.

Catholic Education Week is a wonderful opportunity for the students, staff, parents, parishes and other members of our school communities to recognize how fortunate we are to share in the gift of Catholic education. It is also the perfect time to acknowledge how we all work together to share in the faith and learning journey of our young people.
