February 1, 2016 - Even though September 2016 feels a long way away, parents are already beginning to think about registering their children for Kindergarten. Beginning today, Kindergarten registration officially kicks-off at the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB).

In order to register in Junior Kindergarten, children must be four years old by December 31st, 2016.  For Senior Kindergarten, children must be five years old by December 31, 2016.

Parents can contact their local Catholic school and request a fun and informative package called Getting Ready for Kindergarten. It includes a parent booklet, child's activity book and an engaging DVD. This award-winning package introduces parents and children to Catholic schools in the Board and helps them get prepared for this important milestone. The booklets and DVD, as well as other information about Kindergarten registration can also be found on the Board's website at www.smcdsb.on.ca/families/kindergarten

"This is an exciting time for parents and children who are ready to start Kindergarten in September," said Brian Beal, Director of Education. "Our schools are eager to welcome our youngest learners and to help answer parents' questions. We encourage parents to contact their local school to get all of the information about faith-filled learning that we offer."
