Muskoka Novel Marathon

St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School Students Enter a Marathon, for Writing!
Posted on 06/28/2016

Two Grade 10 students from St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge entered the Muskoka Novel Marathon together. Mackenzie Kuhn and Madelaine Vanderberg have been writing together for five years, collaborating on school projects and learning each other’s styles.

The Muskoka Novel Marathon is an event where writers come together and spend an entire weekend writing a novel. It takes place on July 8-11 at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, and money raised for the event will go towards YMCA Literacy Services.

Mackenzie and Madelaine have had book and character outlines prepared for a while. They are planning to sit side by side with separate laptops to produce a collaborative piece; Mackenzie will do the rough draft and Madeline will edit.

The winning Young Adult/Juvenile manuscript will go straight to editor Peter Carver at Cormant Books for a chance to have it turned into published novel.

We wish Mackenzie and Madelaine the best of luck in the marathon!
