CFHA Offers New Scholarships to Secondary Students
Posted on 06/14/2017

The Canadian Friends Historical Association (CFHA) was founded in 1972 with the intention to raise awareness and appreciation of the contributions by Quakers to Canadian society. The CFHA strives to honour the Quaker legacy and has developed a new scholarship program for high school students and those entering into university.

One CFHA student essay scholarship of $200 is available to students in Grades 9-10, and one award of $300 is available to students in Grades 11-12. In addition, one scholarship in the amount of $1500 per year for two years is available to a university student who is undertaking a program in that includes Canadian Quaker research.

The essay topic should highlight the contributions of Quakers in Canada. There is no maximum length, however, Grade 9-10 students should submit a minimum of 1000 words and Grade 11-12 students should include a minimum of 1500 words. Students also have the option to submit an artistic creative instead of an essay, as long as the content accurately depicts an actual Canadian Quaker event, family, etc.

The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2017.
