Every week we celebrate individuals in the SMCDSB community who have been recognized for going above and beyond to help others during the COVID-19 pandemic. This week we are celebrating Alessandra M. and The Robinson Family.

Alessandra is a student at Father F.X. O'Reilly Catholic School in Tottenham.  She was nominated by a family member who said:

"Ally decided she wanted to create a banner for our front window to helpAlessandra people not feel scared and to have hope for the future. She also included words and pictures to thank the front line workers and essential workers on our street and in the neighbourhood who pass it every day. We have gotten a lot of positive feedback from it and it seems to have started a chain-effect throughout our neighbourhood. More and more have been popping up - it's beautiful to see! When Ally does the chalk drawings on the road that also seems to cause more kids to do the same thing. It truly is beautiful!”

The Robinson Family is from St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Bradford. They were nominated by a staff member who said:

robinson family"The Robinson family has done a wide variety of things to help others during this pandemic.  Spencer and Emery did a video about proper hand washing that we shared on the MTB Twitter account.  They have done some pretty cool (yet gross) experiments about germs and how germs spread.  The entire family (former MTB students Tyler, Griffin and Spencer and current MTB student Emery) decided to make masks with the help of their parents Ken and  Keelan.  They made 700 hundred of masks with filters to help keep others safe.  The sewing skills and fabric provided by their beloved Grammy, Anne Cronin whom they lost in 2019.  She would be so proud of all of you!”

We would like to thank Alessandra and the Robinson Family for their incredible effort in helping others during this time.
