FEBRUARY 3, 2022 - BARRIE, ON: The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) received funding from the Ministry of Education in March 2020 for a new elementary school to be built in southeast Innisfil. Today, the board is happy to confirm that additional funding was approved, which will increase the size of the school to include 493 students (up from 401) and four additional classrooms. The total allocation from the Ministry of Education is $13,431,058 and the school is expected to be open and ready to welcome students in September 2023.

"We know that there is tremendous growth planned for the Innisfil community and this new Catholic elementary school in the southeast area near Lefroy will be a welcome addition to the subdivisions being built there," said Joe Zerdin, SMCDSB Board Chair. "It is always exciting when we can plan for a new school and ensure families have access to Catholic education in their community.”

The new school will serve residents moving into the subdivisions currently being developed in the Lefroy area. The facility will include four Kindergarten classrooms, 16 regular classrooms, and one classroom to support students with special education needs. Also included in the Ministry announcement is funding for three child care rooms.
